What is asthma

Asthma is a disease that affects your lungs by inflaming and narrowing the airways. It causes repeated episodes of wheezing, breathlessness, chest tightness, and nighttime or early morning coughing.
How will we determine if I have asthma?
Dr. Cohen believes that while traditional medical interventions like rescue inhalers are a critical component of treating asthma attacks, integrative treatments can be very helpful in providing patients suffering from asthma relief from their long-term, chronic symptoms. After an exhaustive evaluation in which she tests for allergies, environmental factors and establishes a lifestyle baseline, Dr. Cohen works with her patients to come up with a treatment plan that aims to minimize exposure to environmental toxins, optimize dietary intake to support lung heath, and, adding supplements or traditional medicine, if the individual’s biochemistry warrants it.
